Rededication of RLC Fellowship Hall - 2/19
RLC rededicated the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, February 19, 2012 with a Fat Sunday Potluck. Andy Toth gave brief remarks to open the event in Caring Conversation Cafe style. Andy and Sue, surrounded by their families were on hand for the re-dedication. Their purchase of the new carpet in honor of Andy's parents jumpstarted the efforts to update the space. Beyond the carpet, the room was completely repainted and refurnished and is ready to host your next event. Thanks to all who contributed their time, talents and treasure to make this happen.
Miracle on 124th Street - 12/17
On Sunday, December 17th, our partner, Reformation Lutheran in Milwaukee hosted RLC for the annual Miracle of 124th Street celebration. This event has been around for many years and brings RLC to Reformation to celebrate the holidays with fellowship and giving. This year, the event also included a luncheon in the beautiful, newly remodeled Fellowship Hall at Reformation. Truly a wonderful time was had by all!
Kikwe Sunday 2011 - 12/4/11
On Sunday, December 4th, RLC celebrated our partnership with the Kikwe Parish in Tanzania with a Kikwe Sunday Celebration. Pastor Elias Katoi Nasari was in attendance and shared a children's message regarding World HIV/AIDS Day and it's devastating effects on Tanzania. In the sermon, Pastor Katoi reminded us that we can't jump from Thanksgiving to Christmas - we need to Prepare for Christmas with the season of Advent. After the service, Pastor Katoi auctioned items to the group that were donated by the congregation during a special offering in the service. The proceeds from the gifts and baked goods will go towards scholarships for future travellers to Tanzania. A delicious soup lunch and coffee service were made available to attendees and all left the event with a better understanding of our partnership with our Tanzanian friends at the Kikwe Parish.
RLC welcomes Linda Jakubowski as new Director of Music - 12/4/11
Linda Jakubowski was welcomed with a cake on her first Sunday with RLC - 12/4/11
RLC is happy to welcome Linda Jakubowski as our new Director of Music. Linda comes to RLC after spending nearly 35 years at a neighboring ELCA congregation.
Linda’s responsibilities include providing music for our worship services, as well as leading the choir and working with the praise band. As with our previous Directors of Music, Linda will be very involved in the planning of worship and music in conjunction with Pastor Mary and Anita Marlin, our Worship and Music Director. Linda will carry on our rich tradition of music and infuse her own personal style into our music. Linda is equally comfortable with both the traditional and electronic pianos and her demonstrations on both were a joy to experience. Her repertoire includes a wide range of musical styles that will be showcased in her prelude and postludes. The beauty of her prelude music will no doubt enhance our new focus on quiet contemplation before our worship services begin.
Linda's first Sunday was December 4th and she was welcomed with a cake after service as part of our Kikwe Sunday Celebration. Welcome Linda, we are so happy to have you as part of our RLC family!
