Hi to all of you! This is September’s week 3 online lesson of “Son of Laughter” found in The Jesus Storybook Bible on pages 56-61.
Children: I would like to start this lesson by playing the “How Old is Too Old” game: I’m going to describe something and then give you an age. If you think someone is too old to be doing that, then say “too old”, and if you think the age is about right, say “just right”. You can play this game by yourself or with family members. Answers are to be found at the very end of this lesson.
The “How Old is Too Old” Game
Adults: This story of “Son of Laughter” is biblically referenced in Genesis, 12-21. The entire story of Abraham and Sarah shows that you can trust God with an unknown future, you can listen to and obey God even when you don’t see the fruit, and God’s promises are greater than our ability to obey. While our resolve can be a little shaky, God’s faithfulness is great.
They begin as Abram and Sarai, but God changes their names in the middle of their story. Sometimes people get caught up in their own discouragement, but God brings redemption. He placed a marker in their lives to show that things could be different from this point onward. God loves to redeem and renew.
Think about the promises God has made for you. Are you trusting Him to keep those promises? Can he trust you to keep the promises you made to Him?
~This week’s prayer: I pray that each day I will trust the Lord to take care of me. Amen.
Next week September 25 is the fourth Sunday in this month. We will be meeting for Sunday School on that day right after church (11:00) to discuss this Bible story and do a craft. If you have any, bring your questions, comments, thoughts, or art work with you. I hope you can join us!
Enjoy your week,
